LOUISVILLE, KY (WVUE) - - The Saints organization took Louisville over at the Kentucky Derby draw. With Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton in attendance, Tom and Gayle Benson's GMB Racing drew favorable post positions of 4 and 12.
"I think it's first-time luck we did alright," said Saints and GMB Racing owner Tom Benson.
The race is three days out, but the Saints and Pelicans owner can feel Derby fever taking over already.
"This is like being at the Super Bowl. All these cameras around and everything. It's very exciting though," said Benson.
Coach Payton knows a few things about being the Super Bowl, but the Derby, he's just along for the ride.
"It's hard to appreciate it really, not being in this situation before. (I'm) excited for Tom and Gayle. I know there's a lot of work behind the scenes that goes into this. Greg Bensel did a great job putting the tram together. We're happy to be here and support them," said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.
GMB Racing doesn't posses a "happy to be here" attitude either - only one goal on Saturday.
"We going after it man. That's the right answer," said Benson.
Nyquist is the morning-line favorite at the Kentucky Derby with 3-1 odds. Mo Tom sits at 20-1, and Tom's Ready checks in with 30-1 odds. Only two other horses in the field received higher odds.
