St. Charles Parish investigates homicide in Lake Pontchartrain

ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Authorities now say someone killed a woman whose body was found Tuesday in Lake Pontchartrain near the lower section in the Bonnet Carre' Spillway in Norco.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff's officials say the victim is an African-American woman between 45-60 years old. Autopsy findings show she had no natural teeth. The report adds she was found with gold capped dentures on the top of her mouth, but no lower dentures. Authorities say she has no scars or tattoos, but evidence shows that she had undergone a full hysterectomy.

It is believed the victim's body was in the water for approximately 2-3 days.

Deputies say work crews with the Canadian National Railroad called police Tuesday when they found the woman in the water. She was reported wearing a red and white plaid shirt with a white undershirt and a blue sports bra.
