NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Cinco De Mayo is a busy day for restaurants across the city that serve up Mexican or Mexican fusion-style foods and drinks.

This year as thousands head out to the festivities, they will also have the chance to participate in a fundraiser to give back to those in need in the metro area if they stop by any of the Felipe's Taqueria restaurant locations.

Early this morning they were busy preparing large batches of foods for the large crowds they expect to serve today. The big crowds will also help with their fundraiser this year.

"We are partnering with Puente Latino. It's a local non profit. Their mission is to provide assistance for Latinos in political life and in public life in our city . This year we are partnering with them to raise money for scholarship fund for young bright latinos to have assistance for college. If you come in today you can donate $1 or $5 at any register. We are matching dollar for dollar all of the money that we raise,"  said Justin Crooks, the general manager of the Mid-City location.

Cooks says it's part of their partnership this aye with "Give Nola" day where locals are encouraged to donate money to their local favorite non profit organizations.
