Oyster Boat stolen from New Orleans East storage yard

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A flat bed oyster boat was stolen from a locked storage yard in New Orleans East.

Police said it was reported stolen from the 16400 block of Chef Menteur Highway on Friday, May 6.

The owner noticed his 2016 custom built oyster boat missing from a locked storage yard around 4 a.m. according to NOPD. Upon inspecting the gate, the victim told police he saw the chain was cut.

Investigators said the 37-foot vessel has a Hull Identification Number CUS06418D515. The boat was on a trailer, but police said they have no identifying information available on the trailer at this time.

The boat is valued at $150,000 and has two has two Yamaha Model F150Xa outboard motors, manufactured in 2014. The engine ID numbers are 63PX-1148581 and 63PX-1136241.

Anyone with information on this theft or the location of the boat is asked to contact the Seventh District Investigations Unit at (504) 658-6070 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
