LaPlace man killed in motorcycle accident

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police say a LaPlace man is dead after a motorcycle crash in St. John Parish.
It happened Friday afternoon shortly before 4:00 pm, on LA 44 at West 2nd Street. The crash claimed the life of 51 year old Johnnie Lee Lipscomb of LaPlace, Louisiana.

Troopers say Lipscomb was driving a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle east on LA 44 and for unknown reasons, he lost control of the Suzuki in a curve and crossed the center line.  The Suzuki then struck a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Christina Lecompte of Vacherie.  Lipscomb was thrown from the Suzuki and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers say a toxicology test will be performed after an autopsy.

According to troopers, Lecompte submitted to a breath test and no detectable alcohol was found.  Lipscomb was wearing helmet at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
