Saints rookies enjoying New Orleans life

(WVUE) - Saints rookie minicamp doesn't hit the field until the weekend, but players arrived Sunday and Monday, including the freshly signed trio of Sheldon Rankins, Michael Thomas and Daniel Lasco.

Rankins tweeted "Officially in #WhoDat country!" Sunday night. Lasco also went to social media to express his excitement, tweeting "Day on[e] in NOLA is a success. I'm realizing I truly haven't experienced Cajun food until now."

Royce LaFrance is just an invite to camp after going undrafted but he is plenty familiar with the Crescent City, having played prep ball at Helen Cox before a four-year career at Tulane. He told FOX 8 that attended rookie camp and getting offered a contract are just the beginning of his goals "...53-man roster, that's what I'm looking forward to. However I've got to get it. If I have to come down on pass rushing situations, special teams whatever it is. Whatever I can do to contribute to the team."

Rankins' deal is for four years with a team option for a fifth while the other two rookies' deals are simply four years long. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
