BAYOU BLUE, LA (WVUE) -

Lafourche Parish deputies said they arrested a Houma man after he allegedly kidnapped a woman from Bayou Blue.

Brian Charles, 56, remains jailed for the April 27 incident.

Deputies said they were called to a home in Bayou Blue after a woman in her 20s said she was kidnapped but had escaped. Detectives said during the investigation they learned that the woman was on the front porch of her home when she noticed a black car pull up.

Investigators said the woman recognized the car as belonging to Charles and approached the passenger side. When the woman opened the door, deputies said Charles grabbed her and forcibly pulled her into the car.

Deputies said Charles then sped away and took the woman’s phone from her to keep her from calling for help. The woman eventually grabbed her phone back and jumped out of the vehicle onto the roadway, where Charles left her and fled the scene.

Houma police arrested Charles on May 4 for outstanding warrants. Lafourche Parish deputies said he was then transferred to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and booked with simple kidnapping and failure to vaccinate horses.
