Saints sign second-round draft pick to four-year deal

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Safety Vonn Bell is official a member of the Saints after signing a four-year deal Tuesday while in town for the team's rookie minicamp.

The 21-year-old was drafted with the 61st overall pick, acquired via trade with the Broncos, who received the Saints' third and fourth round pick. Bell will be joined by his former Ohio State teammate, wide receiver Michael Thomas, who signed his four-year deal Monday.

On draft night, Bell spoke of his elation to be in New Orleans with a fellow Buckeye. "I'm very excited, two Buckeyes on the same team with the same common goal, we're going to practice hard, prepare hard every week and we know how to win so we're going to have a strength and desire for that and we're going to bring it to the Saints nation," he said.

The Saints preseason gets started August 11th at New England. All four games will be broadcast on FOX 8.
