LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) - St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre announced that the St. John Sheriff's Office assisted the FBI May 3, 2016, in apprehending Matthew Vicknair, 30, of LaPlace.
St. John detectives obtained a judicial warrant, and, on May 3, 2016, at about 2:30 p.m., detectives arrested Matthew Vicknair without incident at his place of employment in Reserve. The arrest was made after a lengthy federal investigation, involving the FBI New Orleans Division's Violent Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Task Force. Vicknair was charged by the St. John Parish District Attorney's Office with six counts of possession of child pornography under the age of 13.
In undercover chat sessions, prosecutors say Vicknair engaged in conversations with an undercover FBI agent, attempting to facilitate sexual acts with a minor over the Internet. During the investigation, authorities say contributing information leading to Vicknair's arrest was also provided by Homeland Security Investigations and the Adams County (Pennsylvania) District Attorney's Office.
