METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Three home runs to go along with a four-run fifth inning were too much for the Zephyrs to overcome against Colorado Springs Wednesday as the Sky Sox evened the series at a game apiece with the 9-5 win.
With the game tied 5-5 in the fifth, Garin Cecchini lifted a sacrifice fly to put the Sky Sox in front. Eric Young, Jr. laced a double into the left-center field gap to score another run, and Dillard followed with the third home run of his career to give Colorado Springs a four-run cushion.
Early on, it was the Austin Nola show for the Zephyrs. After a first-inning single, Nola stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the second and ripped a double to the left field wall to score all three runs and put the Z's in front, 4-1.
Nola also added another RBI single in the bottom of the fourth as he equaled his career high with four, and recorded three hits in a game for the first time since last September 5 at Colorado Springs.
The Zephyrs and Sky Sox resume the series on Thursday at 7 p.m.
