Georgia man missing after car breaks down near UNO

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department need the public's help finding a Georgia man who went missing after his car broke down near the lake.

45-year-old Rodney Buckmeyer's wife told police the couple was traveling through New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon when they had car trouble in the 6800 hundred block of Franklin Avenue, on UNO's East Campus.

Police say Buckmeyer's wife told them her husband started walking west bound on Robert E. Lee Boulevard in hopes of getting some help. He has not been seen or heard of since he walked away.

Rodney Buckmeyer was last seen wearing a red shirt and dark grey or black shorts with lime green stripes on the side.

Anyone with information on Buckmeyer's whereabouts is asked to call NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or UNO Police Detective Sue Graham at 504-280-7439.
