State Police asking for help solving Hammond hit and run

HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State police are looking for the public's help in finding drivers involved in a fatal hit and run in Hammond on Wednesday.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on University Avenue west of U.S. 51. Erin Gerhard, 26, of Independence was killed.

Gerhard was riding a skateboard in the right westbound lane of University Ave, when he was struck by a vehicle.

The impact threw Gerhard into the left westbound lane where he was struck by another vehicle.

Both vehicles fled the scene after the crash.

Gerhard was was pronounced deceased on-scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office.

Investigators are looking for a truck and a dark colored sedan.
