NOPD identifies wanted carjacking suspect

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department needs help tracking down a man accused in an armed carjacking incident in the St. Roch neighborhood.

On May 6th, 19-year-old Malcolm Gaines allegedly robbed a victim of $70 in case and his gray 2006 A4 Audi while sitting in his car in the 3500 block of South Miro Street.

Investigators say Gaines put a gun in the victim's face and then struck him on the head several times. Gaines allegedly ordered the victim to empty his pockets and get out of his vehicle.

The victim complied, and Gained reportedly took off in the Audi. Police later recovered the vehicle in the 3300 block of Magnolia Street.
