9th St. Tammany K9 in line for body armor

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - K9 Marko will soon receive a bullet and stab proof vest from the non-profit group Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office (STPSO) says the vest was sponsored by Noel Schultz and Norma Henry of Covington. The vest will have a special embroidery with the words, "In memory of Lonnie R. Henry, New Orleans PD."

K9 Marko will be the ninth K9 from STPSO to receive a vest from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. He is assigned to handler Dylan Crawford. The department says K9 Marko is certified in narcotics detection, tracking and patrol functions.

"K9 Marko and all of our K9 deputies are valuable assets our agency, and we are incredibly thankful to Vested Interest in K9s for this wonderful donation and the other donations they have made to our agency, which will help keep our K9's safe while they are doing their job to keep the citizens of St. Tammany Parish safe," Sheriff Jack Strain said.

The vest is expected to arrive within eight to ten weeks.
