NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Former University of New Orleans catcher Brian Snitker has taken over interim managerial duties for the Atlanta Braves.

The 60-year-old Snitker takes the reigns from Fredi Gonzalez, who was fired earlier this week following the team's 9-and-28 start to the season.

Snitker, who played two seasons in the 70s at UNO, has been in the Braves organization, as a player and coach since 1977.
