ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Strong winds and rains knocked down power lines along Airline Highway in St John the Baptist Parish.

Some of the poles look like they've snapped in half leaving wires everywhere.

There are several downed power lines near East St John High School. Power has been restored and classes are still planned as scheduled.

There are still over 1,000 customers without power in the parish.

A strong line of thunderstorms with damaging winds and lots of lightning moved through St. John overnight.

The St. John sheriff’s office reports no injuries and no one been displaced.

About 10 poles along Airline Highway were affected by the storms. Some completely down, others are leaning at different angles. Wires are dangling with some touching the ground.

Earlier one lane of east bound Airline Highway was closed because of the downed lines.
