HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - The Houma Police Department says a man has been charged for allegedly setting his estranged wife's car on fire.
Officers were first called to a home in the 100 block of Palm Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. They found a 2001 Lincoln Navigator fully engulfed in flames parked inside the home's carport. According to police, neighbors alerted a man and woman inside the home at the time, and got them out. Firefighters later arrived to the scene and extinguished the vehicle flames.
After speaking with witnesses, investigators identified the suspect as 28-year old Arlon Dion, the estranged husband of the female victim. Houma Police and the Terrebonne Sheriff's Office tracked Dion within the 3700 block of Grand Calliou Road and immediately took him into custody.
Dion was booked on aggravated arson and two counts of attempted second degree murder.
