BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

The Tigers 11-game win streak ended against Florida, but they took the series against the Gators and proved themselves as Omaha contenders.

"I don't know if you guys heard over in New Orleans, but 12 games ago this team was 11-10 in the league. I met with the team, and I'm a take it one game at a time type of guy, but I just felt people were being critical of our team or me whatever, I just felt we were on the verge of doing something really special," said LSU Coach Paul Mainieri. "I went in a very bold way in front of our team and said we're going to win 12 games in a row. The last 12 games of the season, well we won 11. I told the guys I apologize I misled you guys we won 11, I said we would 12. It wasn't because of a lack of effort. I'm proud of these guys. We won 11, and won a lot of close games."

LSU's first game in the SEC tourney is Tuesday night at 8o'clock against Tennessee. LSU swept the Vols in the regular season.
