NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police are investigating an apparent shooting in Gert Town that left a teen injured. According to police, the incident occurred Friday around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Olive and Short Streets.
Police say that around 3 p.m. Sunday, officers were notified of a teen arriving at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist.
The 16-year-old victim told police that he was in the area when he heard gunshots being fired. He noticed a bullet hit his wrist watch on his left wrist, causing possible metal fragments to enter his wrist.
Investigators are working to determine who was responsible as well as why the victim did not report the incident or seek medical attention, sooner.
According to the NOPD, the department did not receive any calls of shots fired in that area during that time frame. Investigators are working to locate the crime scene.
