Police name suspect in St. Claude shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police have named a suspect in a St. Claude shooting that left a man injured. The incident occurred Monday around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Villere and Louisa Streets. The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Brandon Smith. 

According to police, the victim told investigators that he was walking near the intersection when he saw a flash and noticed he was shot. After falling to the ground, he was shot several more times. The victim then ran to the 3200 block of St. Claude Avenue where he called for help. 

Investigators later named Smith as the man responsible for the shooting. Police say once he is located and arrested, he will be charged with one count of aggravated battery.
