SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - A 29-year old man, wanted for an attempted murder, is behind bars following a stand-off early Wednesday morning in Slidell. Slidell Police and the U.S. Marshals arrested Valere Frazier, who was wanted by police in Coushatta, Louisiana.
Officers arrived at a home in the 1300 block of Westlawn Drive with plans to make an arrest. Frazier refused to come out and held police at bay for half an hour. He was finally taken into custody without incident.
Frazier has multiple felony warrants from the Red River Parish Sheriff's Office on charges of aggravated criminal damage, 2 counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Frazier was also wanted for fleeing from a Slidell Police officer on May 10, 2016, during a traffic stop, and also wanted by the Louisiana State Police for insurance fraud.
Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith says, "This is another example of a great partnership between local, state and federal law enforcement, which helped take a violent criminal off our streets. Criminals do not have jurisdictional boundaries which is why we all must work together to keep our citizens safe."
Frazier is currently being held at the Slidell City Jail, and will later be extradited to Red River Parish.
