Police arrest man wanted for New Orleans East stabbing

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police have made an arrest in a stabbing incident in New Orleans East that left one man injured. The incident occurred March 24 in the 7900 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

According to police, the victim noticed a man, later identified as 56-year-old Philip Saunders, breaking into an unlocked vehicle. When approached by the victim, Saunders produced a folding knife and stabbed him once in the chest. The victim was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say that the notified authorities, Wednesday, after he noticed Saunders loitering in the 8200 block of Chef. Responding officers took Saunders into custody at the scene.

Based on their investigation, police booked Saunders with aggravated battery by cutting and criminal mischief.
