UPDATE: Bicyclist struck twice on Earhart Expressway in separate hit-and-runs

Louisiana State Police identify the bicyclist killed in a hit and run on Earhart Expressway as 58 year old Otis A. Harris.

Troopers say Harris was riding a bicycle on Earhart Expressway near the Orleans Parish line when he was struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Louisiana State Police were notified of a body lying in the roadway shortly before 2 a.m.

Troopers believe the victim was riding a bicycle south, near the shoulder of the road, and was struck from rear by the vehicle. Investigators say the victim was hit again by a 1998 or 1999 Toyota Avalon. Police say the Toyota will have front end damage as a result of the hit and run.

The investigation is ongoing.
