NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -
You'll start to notice some changes today as an area of low pressure moves into Texas and starts to break down the high pressure that has kept widespread rain away from the area. You will have a better chance to see showers and storms pop up this afternoon.
Rain chances will be high, near 100%, both Friday and Saturday with some storms even lingering into Sunday. Temperatures will be slightly lower as a result of cloud cover and rain. Plan for highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the 70s.
Next week will be drier, but with drier weather comes warmer temperatures. If the forecast holds we can expect the trend to turn to a possible heat wave developing by the end of next week.
We're also keeping an eye on an area of low pressure that may form in the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend and move in the general direction of Florida.
