MARRERO, LA (WVUE) - A Marrero woman says her neighbor woke her up around 7 a.m. Thursday alerting her that a 6-foot-long alligator was under her car in her driveway.
"I was in shock. I just looked underneath the vehicle and thought, what do I do now?" Julie Rodrigue said. "It was crazy."
Rodrigue's son called the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office. Deputies arrived at the house on Dueling Oaks Drive and called in a professional to help wrangle the reptile.
"Just lifted him up like it was nothing and put him in the vehicle and took him off," Rodrigue said.
Rodrigue is unsure where the alligator came from. There was a long rope around the gator's neck when it was discovered under the car.
"I don't know if somebody caught it or if it was a pet," she said. "We hosed him off to try and keep him cool and he didn't like that. He was hissing and flapping around and going crazy."
The gator was unharmed and released back into the wild.
