NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Zephyrs and Redbirds played eight scoreless innings on Thursday night and as the rain started to fall, New Orleans sent eight batters to the plate in the ninth and scored four runs to defeat Memphis 4-1.
Destin Hood lead off the ninth inning with a walk and stole a base. He would score on a Tomas Telis single. Carlos Corporan added a two run ground rule double. Elliot Soto reached on an error scoring Corporan and the Z's had a 4-0 lead.
Starter Chris Reed pitched six innings allowed two hits in a no decision for the Zephyrs. Cody Ege worked two innings of relief and earned the win. Craig Breslow earned the save.
The Zephyrs improve to 22-30 and Memphis falls to 22-29.
