NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday for parts of our area. Shower and storm activity will be on the increase today, and heavy downpours are likely at times. Rain chances will remain through Sunday, and widespread rain totals of 2-4" are expected. Isolated spots could see in excess of 6" by Sunday. High temperatures will be in the 80s each day.
Drier air will build in next week behind this rainy pattern, but the heat isn't going anywhere. Temperatures will soar into the low to mid 90s each day next week.
In the tropics there is a medium chance for development in the southern Gulf over the weekend. If the area of low pressure develops, it's expected to stay to our east and move across Florida around the middle of next week.
