NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A 14-year-old student who was checked out of Langston Hughes Academy by a person not on the authorized sign-out list has been reunited with her family.

The student was checked out by someone she knew around 9:42 a.m. on Thursday, according to school leaders. Langston Hughes Academy is located 3500 block of Trafalgar St.

The school immediately contacted the student's parents and notified authorities.

Surveillance video revealed an unknown man wrote the name "Fredo" on the early check-out list.

"We deeply regret that this occurred and are conducting an internal review of the incident. We have tightened our school check-out procedures and will take appropriate actions with staff involved based on a full review of the facts. Student safety remains our number one priority," Firstline Schools said in a statement.
