NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police arrested a man Monday in connection with a shootout in the Warehouse District.
Kelvin Lewis, 28, faces aggravated assault and aggravated criminal damage to property, according to the Orleans sheriff's website.
Just before 8:30 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers were dispatched to the at the intersection of John Churchill Chase and S. Peters streets, where they detained two men believed to be involved in the incident.
Based on the initial investigation, officers learned that at about 8:21 a.m., Lewis was sitting in the driver's side seat of a silver Chevrolet Malibu when he allegedly fired multiple shots at a silver Hyundai Sonata parked in front of him on John Churchill Chase Street. After the shots were fired, both vehicles then fled on John Churchill Chase Street, with Lewis' vehicle crashing into two other vehicles at the intersection of John Churchill Chase Street and South Peters Street.
NOPD officers arrived on the scene to find Lewis standing at the intersection. Officers later recovered a gun from his vehicle.
Both Lewis and the victim are employees of ACE Parking. No injuries were reported.
Lewis was booked accordingly into Central Lock Up and the investigation is ongoing.
