NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Louisiana's Supreme Court is about to revisit the case of Rogers LaCaze (lah-KAHS') - who was convicted of helping a New Orleans police officer carry out a massacre that shocked the city in 1995. The state Supreme Court is to hear arguments Tuesday on whether LaCaze should get a new trial in the case involving former officer Antoinette Frank.
WESTLAKE, La. (AP) - Government officials and executives of the Entergy utility corporation gathered in southwest Louisiana to break ground for a $872 million natural gas-fired generating station. The governor's office says the Entergy Louisiana project will employ about 700 people in Calcasieu Parish at the peak of construction.
WASHINGTON (AP) - House Majority Whip Steve Scalise has returned to the Capitol following surgery this month as he recovers from injuries suffered during a shooting rampage at a baseball practice last June. The Louisiana Republican told reporters Monday he was "feeling great" after the Jan. 10 surgery, the latest in a series of operations required after a bullet struck his hip, shattering bone and damaging internal organs.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say they are investigating a gunfire incident outside a New Orleans charter school. Police said one 14-year-old was treated for a minor elbow abrasion at a hospital Monday afternoon and that the wound was not believed to be from gunfire.
