THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Police found a Baton Rouge man wanted in Texas after a bizarre incident at a Thibodaux fast food restaurant.
The Thibodaux Police Department received a call late Tuesday night about a man who got out of his truck, then screamed into the speaker of a drive-thru in the 300 Block of North Canal Boulevard.
Officers found the silver Ford F-150 about a block away, stopped in the middle of the road. They said they saw Jeffery Nelson, 51, get out of his vehicle, and that's when officers notified him of their presence.
Police said Nelson appeared to be intoxicated and performed poorly on a field sobriety test. He allegedly refused to take a Breathalyzer test, so officers obtained a warrant to let hospital workers take a sample of his blood. The samples were sent to a crime lab.
Nelson was booked with DWI and driving on roadway laned for traffic. Nelson was also being held on five warrants out of Cormal County, TX, where he's wanted for home burglary (three counts), attempted home burglary and a bond violation.
