NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department has set up a memorial fund in honor of a fallen officer.

Natasha Hunter died Tuesday from injuries she suffered while working an accident scene early Sunday morning on I-10 East at Esplanade Avenue.

Anyone who would like help her family can make a donation under her name at any Capitol One bank branch.

On Wednesday, dozens of family members, friends and colleagues took part in a memorial service outside of police headquarters to remember Hunter.

Officers at the First District station where Hunter worked decorated a marked unit Thursday and placed it in front of the building. They are encouraging members of the community to stop by and leave items on the vehicle in honor of Hunter.

Chau Thai Nguyen, 33, who is a student at the Xavier University College of Pharmacy, was booked with vehicular homicide and reckless operation in Hunter's death.
