Parking restrictions begin for French Market Creole Tomato Fest

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Parking restrictions began Friday ahead of the weekend's annual French Market’s Creole Tomato Festival.

The festival runs Saturday and Sunday.The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in areas around the French Market.

From 9 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday, French Market Place between Barracks Street and Ursulines Avenue, the 400 block of Barracks Street and the 1300 block of Elysian Fields Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Parking enforcement personnel will also look for illegal parking, including cars blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets.

In addition, RTA services, including bus service, may be interrupted during the event.
