NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans firefighters battled a two alarm fire in the 7th Ward that left three sheds destroyed. The incident was first reported Sunday at 1:07 p.m. near the intersection of North Dorgenois Street and St. Bernard Avenue.
An NOFD spokesperson says that firefighters arrived on scene to find a shed, located behind an unoccupied home fully engulfed in flames. The fire also spread to another shed, also located behind an unoccupied house, and a third shed, located behind an occupied home. The spokesperson says that all three sheds are close in proximity and shared exterior walls on the fence line of each property. Crews also noticed that the flames were close to the rear walls of the homes on the properties, which prompted a second alarm to be called at 1:14 p.m.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. The spokesperson says that all three of the properties have small backyards with the sheds located a few feet away from the houses. The fire left all three sheds completely destroyed, according to fire crews.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
