NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A memorial Mass will be held for New Orleans police officer Natasha Hunter later morning.
Hunter was killed by an accused drunk driver last weekend while she was directing traffic at an accident scene.
People who knew her say Hunter left a good impression on everyone she met.
New Orleans Police Chief Michael Harrison says the department wants to make sure something like this does not happen again.
"I would like to ask citizens to not allow our officer's life to be in vain," Harrison said. "I would say that they should be conscious of the decisions they make. There is absolutely no room for drinking and driving. Not here not anywhere because it has cost one of our officer's her life and caused an entire community to grieve and mourn."
Hunter leaves behind a five-year-old daughter.
