NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Week two of the racketeering trial for accused Central City crime leader Telly Hankton resumes in federal court this morning.
Investigators say Hankton is the ringleader of a deep-rooted crime organization that has operated in the Uptown and Central City areas for 20 years.
He's already serving a life sentence for a state murder conviction.
To convict Hankton on the racketeering charges, the prosecution needs to prove that Hankton's gang, and all the criminal activity they are accused of, shows a pattern of behavior that furthers a criminal enterprise.
The trial resumes at 9 a.m. in federal court.
