NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will start removing the 12-lane toll plaza at the base of the Crescent City Connection on Monday.
Before the booths are torn down, drivers should be expect lane and ramp closures while crews map out the future configuration. Traffic shifting and ramp closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Once traffic controls are in place, drivers should expect demolition work during the day.
No ramps will be closed permanently, but the Terrytown on-ramp will be reduced from two lanes to one.
Work will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD reminds drivers to drive with caution and be patient over the course of the work.
Construction is expected to be completed by October 2016.
