BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - Three men were arrested and more than one million illicit files were seized in what Louisiana State police are calling the largest ever seizure of child pornography by the agency.
The arrests and seizure are the culmination of three separate investigations into the production and distribution of child pornography in Louisiana.
Over one million illicit files, 800 DVD's, 13 portable storage drives, cell phones and multiple laptop computers were confiscated in three separate raids.
"These types of crimes happen every single day in our country," Trooper Melissa Matey said. "I don't think people realize how large the market is for child pornography. Whether it's pictures or videos it is a very large market."
All of the confiscated electronic devices contained pornographic images and videos of children. Some of he videos which depicted the rape of infant children.
As a father of four children to sit there and think about, that an adult individual, that anyone, would want images of an infant child, an infant child being raped, videos out there of real people, it's difficult," Colonel Mike Edmonson said.
