NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A Denham Springs woman has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for embezzling funds from a Jefferson Parish business.

U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey sentenced Kristin Koenig after she pleaded guilty to bank fraud.

According to court records, the business hired Koenig to do accounting work between 2011 and 2014. Prosecutors say she embezzled more than $600,000 from the company by forging her name on company checks and manipulating records.

Koenig was also sentenced to five years of supervised release and ordered to pay $623,374 in restitution.
