(WVUE) -

As the Saints concluded their offseason program Thursday, a few first year players have proven wise beyond their years. Second round pick Michael Thomas has steadily made plays all offseason. His Buckeye teammate Vonn Bell has made plays as well. Both have gotten significant reps with the first team.

First round pick Sheldon Rankins is not a starter.. yet. However, he will definitely be counted on as a big part of the defensive line rotation. Throw in Daniel Lasco and David Onyemata and this rookie class has demonstrated they are up for the challenge.

"I think this group has been pretty good," Sean Payton said. "I think they've been real good in regards to their work ethic and they understand that they're trying to catch up quickly."

The rookies will have the shortest amount of time off. They'll report to the Greenbrier about a week before the rest of the team to acclimated to their new surroundings.
