NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Former New Orleans Saints player and ALS spokesman Steve Gleason shared his religious beliefs in a special ceremony called Gleason: A Witness to Faith.
The prayer session was held at the St. Mary's Dominican High School and guest filled the Sienna Center.
" I think als has given me and my family the opportunity to share our strength, our example, and our love with whoever may need it," Gleason said.
The former safety shared with the world that he was diagnosed with ALS in 2011.
The disease affects the body causing rapid deterioration.
Archbishop Gregory Aymond led the group ceremony in prayer; pushing faith and strength.
