Nicondra: Cold front moving through

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

It was a stormy morning for many and as we moved into the afternoon the south shore and coastal parishes continued to see plenty of heavy rain, but conditions are improving as a cold front pushes through the area. The oppressive heat in the middle 90s is being replaced with more bearable temperatures and slightly drier air just in time for Father's Day.

We are not seeing a complete evacuation of the moisture so it's not out of the question some showers and maybe a storm or two will perk up on Sunday afternoon. The good news is that temperatures will be much more tolerable in the middle to upper 80's.

Expect the drier weather to really take hold for the beginning of next week with very little rain in the forecast. High temperatures will return to the lower 90's each afternoon. By Thursday we will see enough moisture returning to increase our chance for a few late day storms.

A weak tropical is moving into the Bay of Campeche this weekend. The National Hurricane Center is now giving it a 50% chance of development, but the good news is that it will move into Mexico. It's not going to effect the Gulf Coast. Otherwise the tropics are quiet.
