Three armed robberies, one in French Quarter, reported overnight

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police are investigating three armed robberies reported in the last 24 hours.

According to preliminary reports from NOPD, three armed robberies occurred in Orleans Parish between Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19, including one in the French Quarter.

The first robbery was reported around 10 a.m. on June 18 in Gentilly. According to NOPD, a 43-year-old man was walking in the 2000 block of Painters Street when four men approached him. One of the unknown men held the victim at gunpoint while the the others searched his pockets. The group of robbers then fled the scene with the victim's cash.

A 55-year-old man was robbed in the French Quarter later that night. According to NOPD, the 55-year-old was walking in the 800 block of Dumaine Street around 11:15 p.m. when a man approached him from behind with a gun and demanded his belongings. The victim complied and the gunman made off with cash, his cellphone, credit cards and a food stamp card.

The third robbery occurred around 5:30 a.m. Sunday near the corner of North Johnson Street and Elysian Field Avenue. According to the report from NOPD, a man and woman stole an unidentified mans car.

No details are currently available on the stolen vehicle.
