Funeral procession for Amos Cormier rolls along Westbank Expressway

ALGIERS, LA (WVUE) -

The funeral procession for late Plaquemines Parish President Amos Cormier will leave Mothe's Funeral Home on the Westbank Expressway at 7:30a.m. on Monday and head to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Belle Chasse.

He will be escorted by several local law enforcement and public safety agencies including Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office, Gretna Police Department, Louisiana State police and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Department.

There will also be two fire ladder trucks displaying American flag across Hwy 23 at OLPH. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse, today 9 a.m. to noon.

A funeral Mass will follow. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

A repast will be held at the Belle Chasse Auditorium and is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. 

Today is a parish wide day of mourning in Plaquemines. All government offices will be closed. Plaquemines Parish Government employees are invited to pay their respects to Cormier and his family.
