Police search for man accused of burglarizing car

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Police need help identifying a man accused of stealing from a vehicle on Tuesday (June 21).

The New Orleans Police Department says at 10:45 a.m., the man was observed burglarizing a gray 1995 Nissan XE pickup truck. The truck was parked in front of the Family Dollar store on MacArthur Drive. He got away in a four-door silver SUV.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of the man. Police ask anyone who knows who the man is to call Fourth District detectives at (504) 658-6040.

Police say vehicle burglaries are largely avoidable. To avoid car break-ins and thefts:

  • Lock the doors
  • Close windows and sunroofs
  • Don’t leave valuables such as laptops, cell phones, wallets, purses or GPS devices in plain view
  • Put away the garage door opener and any items with personal information
  • Move valuables to the trunk before reaching your destination
  • Don’t leave keys in the vehicle

If you have any information about the man in the surveillance image, call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
