Surveillance video captures Houma gun battle

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Part of a Houma gun battle was captured by surveillance video cameras Wednesday night, according to a Houma Police Department report.

Houma police responded to a call reporting several shots fired in the St. Joseph and East Street area Wednesday night around 8 p.m.

Residents reported to police around 13 shots were fired.

Police say they have received an increased number of calls from the Mechanicville area. A review calls from the area show the incidents are happening at random times, police said.

Authorities are now asking the public for help in their investigation into the reports of gunfire.

Police have obtained surveillance footage of a suspect wearing dark colored clothing near the intersection of East Street and Payne Street.

The suspect is seen pulling a weapon from his pocket firing at a burgundy car.

Police obtained a different surveillance video of a burgundy vehicle leaving the area. In the video it appeared that the rear window and a tire on the car were shot.
