Slidell man booked with second ATM burglary

MANDEVILLE, LA (WVUE) - A man already in St. Tammany Parish jail has been rebooked with an additional crime.

Shayne Thomas now faces a new count of simple burglary. Mandeville Police say on June 10, they responded to a report of someone breaking into the Capital One ATM at 2651 Florida Street. The officer says he found the ATM door ajar but the money vault was not compromised.

The citizen who reported the crime said the subject was in his early to mid-20s, about 5'6" to 5'9" tall, weighing about 160 to 180 pounds. The subject was wearing black pants, black shoes and had on a gray hoodie.

Thomas was arrested for a similar office on June 12, 2016. Mandeville Police say Thomas' clothing at the time of his first arrest matched the description of the Capital One burglar.

Mandeville Police detectives say they tried to interview Thomas in the St. Tammany Parish jail, but they say he was uncooperative.

Thomas was left in the custody of St. Tammany Parish authorities.
