Thibodaux man arrested for robbing video poker player

THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - A Thibodaux man was arrested and accused of robbing a man while he played video poker.

According to Thibodaux police Kion Caldwell, 26, of the 1200 block of President Street in Thibodaux was charged with simple robbery.

The incident occurred last Wednesday at approximately 2:46 a.m.

At that time, Caldwell is accused of approaching the victim as the victim played video poker in the 100 Block of East Bayou Road.

He asked the victim for a cigarette. As the victim reached for the cigarette, Caldwell grabbed the victim's cash and fled.

When police arrived, they found two individuals identified as being seen with Caldwell at the business on multiple occasions.

While speaking with the two individuals, police discovered that Jovvon Williams, 31, of the 100 block of Belle Point in Napoleonville had a warrant for a parole violation. He was arrested.

On Friday, around 10:24 p.m. Caldwell was spotted walking on Jackson Street by a K-9 officer patrolling the area.

Caldwell was arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he is being held on a $7,500 bond.
