THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Thibodaux Police arrested a man who allegedly pushed an officer into traffic, but not before getting into an argument with a man outside a bar and knocking the victim unconscious.

Investigators say 18-year-old Chase Hutchinson and the victim were arguing outside a bar around 1:30 a.m. Friday, at West 2nd and St. Philip Street. Hutchinson allegedly slammed the victim to the ground and knocked him unconscious. The victim later regained consciousness, but Hutchinson already took off.

Officers caught up with the suspect about a block away from the bar. Hutchinson had allegedly pushed an officer into traffic. The police department says other officers jumped in to regain control of Hutchinson. Once inside of the patrol unit, they say Hutchinson began hitting his head against the cage.

Hutchinson was booked at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for 2nd degree battery, battery of a police officer, and resisting an officer. He posted a $7,000 bond.
