Westside Lanes hosts benefit in honor of fallen JPSO deputy

JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A benefit will be held this week to raise money for the family of JPSO Detective David Michel Jr.

Westside Lanes will host a fundraiser on Thursday, June 30 in Michel's honor.

The fundraising begins with a drive-up lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. then continues with a dinner and silent auction raffle at 6 p.m.

Tickets to the dinner at $50 for adults, $10 for children 12 and up and free for children under 12 years old. Tickets include door prizes, a dinner plate and unlimited drinks.

Lunch will be available for $10.

"All proceeds will go to Detective Michel's family," the poster states. "He will be remembered forever by all who knew him and in hopes of raising awareness to the sacrifices made daily of those who wear blue."

Michel was shot and killed on June 22 while on patrol on Manhattan Boulevard.
